Mario's big beach blunder
This one needed just a little more time in the oven. I can respect the ambition with all the big set peice levels, the cohesive theming and more realistic level design, and while in theory all the movement options fluud unlocks SHOULD elevate this above mario 64 it just doesn't come together. Too many friction points, the water melon rolling part, the chucksters, the FUCKING lilly pad level. The biggest mistep was ditching the open ended level section process that 64 had, forcing you to do the levels of each stage in order. 30 of the shines actually being blue coins you gotta collect and then trade in is another fault. Despite this the game is still quite fun, but it doesn't compare favorably to 64 or galaxy.
