not quite my tempo
Look I get that this game is not made for me. It's a casual game designed for people as a way to spend time with their partners and play a game together. It's not supposed to be very challenging or mechanically complicated. However, it's just a bit too non-interactive for me.
The game is visually stunning, the worlds and level designs are very creative, and I love the easter eggs and references it makes to other games and developers. That said, the game feels vastly underwhelming. The platforming, puzzles, and boss fights were all too easy and not incredibly engaging (the puzzles and challenges were better than the platforming, which was very repetitive). And honestly, it's okay that the game play isn't very interesting because this game is clearly designed as an interactive story to be experienced (and telltale games like The Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us are some of my favorite games), but the biggest issue is that the writing is terrible and the story completely under-delivers. I feel like there was so much potential for where the story could've gone, but most of it is very predictable and ultimately none of it really builds up to a crescendo of any kind and the story just fizzles out and the game just ends.
It's not a bad game. It's just not for me, but also I'm clearly not the target audience for this game.
