an iconic Mario Kart that is often forgotten
This game came out after double dash and it was incredible. From the movement to the character selection and the maps, everything was super balanced and it just felt super nice to play. Yes, it wasn't as graphically appealing as a title on the gamecube, but it really didn't matter because the gameplay was so damn good. The most iconic kart i can remember is Yoshi's egg kart and the corresponding Yoshi Map with the giant egg in the middle. I used to rip that map over and over as a kid. The soundtracks were also fire coming out of the DS speakers. Drifting with the DS's right and left bumpers felt incredibly natural. Dry bones in the game was really cool for it's time. Honestly, I'd put this above Mario Kart 8. I just wish the online mode actually worked. Local multiplayer with friends was always fun though.
